It can be fraught with problems. The tensions of getting everything ready can spill over on the day and lead to frayed tempers and a spoilt Christmas.
Anticipation can often be better that the real event but this year the two days lived up to every expectation I dared to have. Evereyone seemed to have a lovely time.
Some highlights;
Mrs AWB loved the presents I had chosen for her. We were both hugely relieved. In fact, everyone seemed to have put some effort into the presents. There were no embarrassing revelations when any were unwrapped.
A hug off Daughter. She's not a 'cuddler' really so this was lovely.
Playing a raucous game of Foosball with Granddaughter. She beat me too in a cliff hanger of a decider.
A three way hug with Son and Mrs AWB.
So many more and some too private for here.
.......and yes, some tears of happiness too.
I think, as a family, we drew that little bit closer. Quite an acheivement for Christmas.
