What's a sperm donor?

A question asked by Granddaughter.

Thank goodness I wasn't the target. Poor Grandma was the victim.

'Well, women produce eggs and men produce sperm and these eggs and sperm meet to make a baby.'

You can see where this is going. Luckily Granddaughter didn't ask the obvious.........'How do they meet?'

No doubt that will come later.

The little bugger knows there is something that goes on that is rather exciting but does not understand what it is. So she asks risque questions and observes the embarrassed answers she gets.

Absolutely fascinating.

  1. Kids love nothing more than putting us on the spot. I wonder why we get so embarrassed about it? A straight question deserves a straight answer and most of the time that nails it dead.

  2. Hi John,
There was a TV show in North America hosted by a chap named Art Linkletter. It was called 'Kids Say the Darndest Things. I do not recall the kids saying anything like that:-)
Interesting post. I believe such questions posed by your Granddaughter should be any cause for embarrassment. All the best, John.
    With respect, Gary.

  4. It's not so much embarrassment as wondering how much to say and how much an 8 year old can understand or be expected to understand.

  5. I think they only take in as much as they can process, when they don't want to know more they stop asking questions until they're ready to handle the answers.
I remember when I told my 10 year old how the egg meets the sperms, she screwed up her face and said 'eeegh did you have to do that with daddy?'( pause), '4 TIMES???'
